Meet Trustee Joe Schauenberg
With his quiet confidence, Joe continues to raise substantial funds for the Foundation and herald its efforts.
“The Foundation provided $90,000 for the development of the Barrington High School Health Sciences Lab classroom,” Joe shares proudly. “It is a fully interactive classroom space that provides our students with a pathway leading to increasingly in-demand careers in healthcare.”
Having spent his career in healthcare finance, Joe finds this classroom and curriculum as a highlight of the projects he has worked on with the Foundation.
“A student who enrolls in this curriculum receives 10 credit hours and is eligible to take the Nurse Aide Competency Exam to become a state-licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA),” Joe said. “The classroom is opening a new door to careers in the healthcare industry for many of our BHS students.”
As a major fundraiser for this project, Joe is excited to see how it evolves in the future.
Serving as the Foundation’s vice co-chairperson, resource development, Joe first learned of the various capital projects financed by the Foundation when he moved to Barrington in 2011. Projects such as the BHS Business Incubator, BHS TV van, elementary STEM and the Sunny Hill Elementary learning spaces inspired him to get involved.
“The Board of Trustees had an opening in 2017, and I was fortunate to jump in,” Joe adds. “The time has flown by, and I’m proud of the continued contribution we are making to our community.”
