Meet Executive Director Mary Dale
When the Foundation decided to hire its inaugural executive director in 2018, they found a perfect match in Mary.
“I was attracted to the position after learning more about the mission to encourage curiosity, inspire students' passion for career exploration, and provide enriching opportunities through private funding,” Mary said. “I was impressed by the tremendous impact the Foundation has had on our schools here in Barrington.”
Mary jumped right in and works closely with all the Foundation’s dedicated trustees and generous donors — even through a pandemic! She especially enjoys the fast approval process and implementation of the Foundation’s Helping Hand and Projects for Innovation and Enhancement (PIE) grants.
“I am a big fan of our grant programs because they encourage teachers to identify new learning tools and opportunities to creatively engage and excite the students in their classrooms,” Mary added. “The approval process is fast and grant recipients can implement their ideas quickly.”
Mary and her family also are Barrington residents so she sees the Foundation from the view of the student as well. Her three children all have had positive experiences associated with the Foundation — from elementary and middle school Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) to Gateway to Technology to Project Lead the Way.
“I have learned about the many Foundation-funded programs that allow students to explore new ideas and skills,” Mary said. “Fast forward to now when my daughter, a senior, is in the business incubator accelerator class.”
