In addition to the panel discussion, the event will serve as the official unveiling of the High School’s new Health Sciences Lab, a fully interactive classroom space that will provide our students with a healthcare pathway leading to increasingly in-demand careers. As an example, the classroom will house the Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program, which teaches students basic nursing skills to provide direct hands-on care of residents in long term care and hospital settings. You can observe many other applications and learning opportunities in the visual schematic of the classroom that follows.

Jenn Adams leads healthcare industry performer PharMEDium to the next level with patient centric solutions focusing on medication safety.  She has overseen all facets of the business during her career, including sales, marketing, operations, supply chain, business development, quality, and clinical affairs and has a history of developing high performance teams.  She serves on numerous boards which focus on leadership development for women at all levels and is currently involved in a STEM initiative with The American Heart Association which exposes high school aged girls to the possibilities in healthcare, science and engineering technology.     She holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.  With her 25 years of experience in the business of healthcare, Jenn will moderate our panel for the evening.

Sarah Speck, MD,

Medical Director, Cardiac Wellness and Rehabilitation programs, Swedish Heart and Vascular Institute, Seattle

Practicing in Seattle for over 30 years, Dr. Speck knows that disease prevention is the best approach to managing health and maintaining vitality.  Doctor, educator and entrepreneur, she is an expert in illness prevention, disease reversal and disease management techniques and is a frequent presenter on the subject.  Dr. Speck believes that a patient – doctor partnership is the most successful approach to achieving and maintaining good health at all ages.  She earned her MD as well as her  MPH from The University of Illinois before she headed west for her residential work at The University of Washington.

Captain Walter Wm. Dalitsch III, MD, MPH

Captain Walt “Lunar” Dalitsch is the Director of the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board. He is dual board-certified in Aerospace and Occupational Medicine.  As a naval flight surgeon, he has had multiple deployments with over 2000 flight hours in 28 different aircrafts. He has lived all over the world including Alaska, Italy and Japan. He has published over 350 articles and has presented internationally on his research, which has included human performance and the negative impacts of fatigue, energy drinks and nutritional supplements.  Recognized with numerous awards for service, teamwork and achievement, Captain Dalitsch is a Fellow and current Vice President of the Aerospace Medical Association, and has served as President of the Society of U.S. Naval Flight Surgeons, and as Assistant Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Chicago Medical School.

Kathryn Witkowski, BSN, RN, TNS, ECRN, TNCC

Critical Care Registered Nurse, Good Shepherd Hospital, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Chicago

Currently a Level 1 trauma center nurse with Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Katie earned her CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) through Harper College.  Her work as a Clinical Care Technician at Good Shepherd Hospital (GSH) confirmed her true calling to nursing, and she continued her education to attain her BSN from Purdue University Online while working full-time at GSH.  She also holds a BA in Communications from The University of Colorado.  Katie returns to GSH on a part-time basis as her schedule permits.

Michael J Fitzgerald, DDS

Dentist in Private Practice since 1985, Barrington, IL

Dr. Michael Fitzgerald, a longtime Barrington resident, has built a successful private dental practice and has treated patients of all ages over the past thirty years.  Knowing the connection between good oral health and the prevention of disease is critical.  Dr. Fitzgerald is current in all dental topics as an active member in numerous dental societies and academies also donates his time to local civic organizations.  In addition to being a proud BHS alum, Dr. Fitzgerald holds degrees from DePauw University and the Dental School of Loyola University.

Julie Soule-Worley
BHS Class of 1980

Family, Psychiatric-Mental Health & Addictions Nurse Practitioner

Associate Professor, Doctor of Nursing Practice program, RUSH University

Dr. Worley is a Family, Psychiatric-Mental Health and Addictions Nurse Practitioner. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex psychiatric illness across the lifespan.  Dr. Worley strives to improve the care of patients with substance use disorders through presentations and publications focusing on reducing stigma and implementing evidence based practice. She is the editor of the Substance Use and Related Disorders section in the Journal of Psychosocial Nursing. She is involved in curriculum development and quality improvement of the psychiatric nurse practitioner courses and teaches in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Rush University.  Dr. Worley holds several degrees, among them, a BSN from Northern Illinois University as well as a PH’D in Nursing from The University of Tennessee.
